OLN 2010 - Outdoor Living Nativity

THE OUTDOOR LIVING NATIVITY

OUTDOOR LIVING NATIVITY

WHAT IS OLN???

The Outdoor Living Nativity (OLN), the live re-creation of the Christmas Story, was first felt in the heart of a young mom. She shared it with a few close friends and it was set aside for possible future development. One year later, an older lady told the pastor’s wife of a vivid dream she had. Both ladies had the same vision – an outdoor walk-through of the Christmas Story. One lady pictured all the scenes set up behind the church on the grassy area, and the other lady saw a gentleman from our church hanging the Christmas star and cars piling into the church parking lot.

Once the ideas were presented, it took off. People were getting involved in whatever capacity they could to see this dream become a reality.

The goal of this tour is to present the real Christmas Story, the birth of Jesus, to the community. It’ll begin with the Angel telling Mary that she is going to have a Son, and will end with the Manger scene. There are 6 scenes in total that include shepherds, wise men and angels, and live animals. The last stop will be in the gym depicting the Christmas-Now scene. Here there will be a modern day Christmas with a tree and gifts, cookies and hot chocolate. Also here, there will be carolers singing the songs of the holidays, and an opportunity for guests to sing along.

How Can You Help??

COOKIES!!! We need people to make SUGAR COOKIES to give out in the gym after the tour. Each person is asked to make at least 2 dozen each. Sugar cookies, with sprinkles, NO ICING. Bring them in anytime - they can be frozen.

We are in need of 3 more fire pits for the Outdoor Living Nativity. If you have one we could use, please talk to Jude.

MEN - help construct, illuminate, and create the stable, fence, and other outdoor props.
